Writer's Block: Eeny, meeny, miny, moe

If you had to give up swimming, skiing, hiking, or biking for the rest of your life, which would you choose, and why?

I don't really do any of those things, but I could easily say that skiing is the one I hate the most. I wouldn't want to give up swimming, if only because I love to swim in the ocean. Regular pool swimming I don't care about. Hiking is something I'd like to think about try one day and biking can kiss it.

Writer's Block: You're my best friend

If you could shrink any animal down to miniature size and carry it around in your pocket, which animal would you choose?

It's a bit of a tie between panda and polar bear. Polar bears are my favourites, but how damn cute would a mini panda be?! I think I'd die of the cuteness.

I can just see it tumbling around my desk, eating the bamboo plant on my night stand, and sleeping in random places. My dog would probably want to eat it, though. He'd think it was a toy.

Writer's Block: Hit the road, Cupid

If you had the power, would you permanently eliminate Valentine's Day?

What other day of the year do we get to be all dorky and eat chocolate and draw hearts on things?! I'm single and I don't hate V-Day!

In fact, I have been single for every Valentine's Day except one, but that one was the worst! Because I had a boyfriend who just forgot!

So you see, I actually have a better V-Day when single. I see it as just a fun little holiday to give your family and friends dorky little presents or cards. It's fun!

I've written about this before, but it's really all about your perception. You can choose to see V-Day however you want, even if it means you see it as a bitter holiday full of commercialism. You can see it that way if you want. Or you can see like I do, just as a fun day, that's all. *shrug* Up to you, really.

Writer's Block: Over the top

Who would you consider the most overrated musician, and why?

Wow. Everybody's hatin' on Justin Bieber for this one. Closely followed by Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga. And Ke$ha? I don't even know who that is.

I couldn't possibly have an opinion on Justin Bieber. I've never heard any of his stuff and I am not a person to judge a musical artist by reputation alone. I'm not even sure if I'm spelling his name right.

So, should I answer this question? I don't think so. I don't listen to the radio, I don't watch any kind of music television, I don't keep up with this stuff. I listen to what I like and I don't care about how many records they sell or who all is obsessed with them or whatever the hell. I just don't care.

That doesn't mean there aren't musicians out there that I dislike. There are PLENTY of those. I could go on and on and on about all the musical artists who I think suck. But that's not really what the question is asking, so I'll spare you. I really don't know who I think is most overrated because I simply lack enough information to make a solid decision.

Maybe one day I'll start paying more attention and be less of a slacker... but don't count on it.

Too long, Clanky, too long.

As in, it's been too long since I've updated the regular journal part of this activity. The fact is, I'm really bored right now. And I like to write. I like to write about things that I don't necessarily need anybody but me to know about. Anonymous internet people are okay, too, but if anybody who actually knew me read it, I would be scandalized. Well, not really, but I'd be like, DUUUUUDE.

Anyway, I am sick right now. I've been sleeping all day and I've been trying to sleep tonight, but I am not feeling it. So, you get to suffer through whatever this mess is.

I'm in bed, the lights are off. My glasses are on, but only because I can't see without them. Only light comes from the laptop. Quiet music playing in the background, currently "Orange Sky" by Alexei Murdoch. Dog asleep on the floor and snoring every now and then because he's actually sleeping, unlike myself. He doesn't seem to mind the light from the laptop or the music or the fact that I'm awake. He seems content to just sleep on my floor and that's all there is. He likes my floor best. Sometimes under the bed. But mostly the floor. I don't know why. I offer for him to sleep on the bed, but he usually doesn't want to. He likes low places in general, though. Sometimes he sleeps under my chair. I have an armchair recliner and when it's reclined out, he'll burrow himself a little cave underneath it. So sometimes, I leave it reclined even when I'm not sitting there so he can sleep under it all he wants.

I just sneezed and he freaked out. I can tell because every time he moves, his dog tags jangle. When other people sneeze, it makes him nervous. But he sneezes all the time. Apparently he got over it pretty quick because he's back to snoring.

And now I just wrote a whole paragraph or more about my dog. I'm so sorry.

I just feel pretty crappy at this moment and there's nothing else to say about it, I suppose. I could start going off about other things, but I feel this is pretty okay. In fact, I think I might start using this livejournal account for writing instead if whining. I'm a writer. I write poetry and prose and so on. So I'm going to start writing things like that in here. For instance, character profiles... no wait, I have a tumblr for that. It's called Novel Log. You can check it out at novelog.tumblr.com or possibly tumblr.novelog.com I don't remember exactly. Anyway, you can find it, I'm sure.

I think I'm going to go do some stuff with that now. Tata.

Feb. 8th, 2010

I'm really not happy about being all insomnia'd out today. I wanted to sleep, damn it! Who decided it would be funny to force me awake all night, despite the aids of pills and such like remedies? Auuugh you whoever you are... my evil arch nemesis... I hate you!

Writer's Block: Single pride day

Given that we're less than a week out from Valentines, how do you feel about the approaching holiday? Will you participate or abstain? If you're not in a relationship, how will you celebrate your single status?

Okay, I gotta answer this one. I celebrate Valentine's Day no matter what, relationship or no. That's because I choose to see it as a day that celebrates love in all forms - friends, family, pets, etc - as opposed to a day that celebrates only committed relationship significant other type of love. While it embraces that latter one, of course, it also includes the former ones. So in the name of all love that ever was anywhere and anytime, I eat a lot of chocolate and giggle at silly cards that say "I heart you" and wear a lot of pink and/or red. That's about it, really.

It's funny 'cause as long as I can remember, my mum gave me and my sister cute little gifts for Valentine's Day. They'd be little things, but still meaningful things. So I'm going to try to get her something this year, though I might have to make it myself since I am low on cash. I'll have to see what I can do.

In the end, I think that people shouldn't be bitter about Valentine's Day. Really? It's just one day in your life. You can choose to turn it into something that makes you happy, even if that means ignoring it completely. You're the only one making yourself bitter about it. Change your view and you change your world.

Writer's Block: My Favorite Movie Quote

What’s your favorite movie quote of all time?

As anyone who knows me can tell you, my favourite movie is Snatch. Therefore, I have many favourite quotes from that movie. Here are a few for your reading pleasure:

"You can call me Susan if it makes you happy."
-Bullet Tooth Tony

"Fuck me, hold tight. What's that?"
"It's me belt, Turkish."
"No, Tommy. There's a gun in your trousers. What's a gun doing in your trousers?"
"It's for protection."
"Protection from what? Zee Germans?"
-Turkish & Tommy

"Why do they call him the Bullet Dodger?"
"'Cause he dodges bullets, Avi."
-Avi & Bullet Tooth Tony

"Who took the jam outta your doughnut?"

"That's Tommy. He tells people he was named after a gun, but I know he was really named after a famous 19th century ballet dancer."

Another of my favourite movies is "The Three Musketeers". Yes, the old Disney one with Kiefer Sutherland, Charlie Sheen, Oliver Platt, Tim Curry, and Chris O'Donnell. That mess is awesome and you all know it!

"Where have you been?"
"Taking care of something ugly!"
-Athos & Porthos

"A lively tune! I'm inspired to dance!"

"We're in the middle of a chase, Porthos."
"You're right. Something red."
Athos & Porthos

"This sash was a gift to me from the Queen of America."

There are about fifty million more quotes from this movie that I could write out here, but I think I shall spare you all.

Anyway, these are my faves. So there you have it. Thank you for your time, etc.

Writer's Block: Twilight becomes you

Have you seen New Moon? If so, how do you think it compared to the book? Was it better or worse than Twilight? Please, no spoilers!

Reading through the first page of responses to this question, I was surprised to see how many people were like, wtf, Livejournal? I completely agree. I don't think this is really a good writer's block question.

As for the whole Twilight mess, well... I just don't understand why so many people like it. Really. I just don't get it. At the urging of my friends, I started reading the first book. I only made it about half way through. I just couldn't stomach it anymore. I've seen some pretty bad writing, but usually I find it on the internet where you can post whatever you like. I've never seen published writing that bad before. I'm just wondering what was going through the minds of the people who read that manuscript and decided it was a good one to publish.

I saw the first movie because my friend and I were like... let's watch it so we can make fun of it. I pretty much laughed about it the whole time. My favourite part was at the end when they played that Iron & Wine song because I love Iron & Wine. I can't remember what was going on at that part... I only remember the song.

Anyway, I have no desire to see the second movie, though I might watch it someday when one of my friends owns it and is like, "Watch it with me because you will laugh." But if that never happens, then you know I will never watch it. I just... don't care.

I could go on and on right now about how I feel regarding the whole sparkling vampires thing, but I'm sure nobody really cares.
